Flood my soul with your Spirit and life. Permeate and possess my whole being so utterly that my life may only be a radiance of yours. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel your presence in my soul.”
–John Henry Cardinal Newman
Teal Ribbons for Peri Video
This site originated as an effort to send my sister-in-law, Peri Thomas, on an everlasting adventure at JH Ranch in northern California. With great support of friends and family, Peri and Jack (her 16 year old son) experienced JH’s ministry this past summer. JH was a perfect fit for this women of great faith, hope and love.
Many of you already know, Peri was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2010. This past September Peri experienced painful symptoms of cancer recurrence. She underwent surgery to relieve a blockage in her intestine. Unfortunately tumors were found throughout her large intestine and her cancer was reclassified to stage 4. It has been an excruciatingly difficult battle for Peri and for all who love her. First released into palliative home health care, Peri was unable to tolerate the chemo and has since chosen to stop chemo treatments. She has transitioned into hospice.
In paying tribute to Peri, I hope visitors take the opportunity to read her blog and journey in understanding life purpose, faith and hope. Her wisdom shares valuable insight.
“We get repeated chances to learn that life is not about us—that we acquire purpose and satisfaction by sharing in God’s love for others. Sickness gets us partway there. It reminds us of our limitations and dependence. But it also gives us a chance to serve the healthy. A minister friend of mine observes that people suffering grave afflictions often acquire the faith of two people, while loved ones accept the burden of two people’s worries and fears.” Tony Snow’s testimony in his battle of cancer
With my sincerest love to all, Peri’s biggest fan–Cecilia.
I’d love to help! Peri is my long lost buddy!! Jennifer
Thank you for sharing your beloved sisters’ journey with us. I will faithfully pray for your sponsorship campaign and for Peri. I ask God’s biggest blessings over her family. My love you Cecilia.
Blessings for the Thomas family. They are all amazing.
This past year, before Peri moved with her family to Nashville, I was fortunate enough to get to spend some time with her. Her generosity, honesty, and strength were and will continue to be an inspiration. I will send her family and her light energy whenever I think of them in the upcoming weeks. I am sure that will be often.
I am so touched by your words about Peri. My friend Jane Zimmerman, here in Memphis ,sent me a Facebook message about her. I will be praying and I will have the church that I pastor to pray as well. My Nephew recently died in Orange Park Fla. after the cancer went all over his 50 yr old body. We are still grieving his death. But, my heart goes out to you and family. Don’t give up !!! Where there is life there is hope. I know God has perfect timing and He can heal anybody of anything. Tell Peri to keep the faith. We are standing with her here in Memphis. Be Blessed.
